MDI Implants

Mini Implants are the permanent solution to loose, shifting, uncomfortable dentures. Now you can enjoy steak, corn on the cob, or a crunchy apple without concern that your dentures will shift or loosen in your mouth while eating. With mini-implants, there is no need to remove your dentures overnight. Simply “unsnap” them from the implants, clean and re-insert.

An implant is a mini titanium alloy post, which acts like the root of your tooth, and is permanently inserted in your jawbone. An O-ring attached to your denture snaps over the ball end of the implant where the denture is “seated”, keeping your denture firmly in place. Placement of the implants is accomplished with minimally invasive surgery in our office, usually in just one visit.

The cleaning procedure for implants is easy. Simply unsnap your denture, clean around the implant with dental floss and soft-tipped brush to remove plaque before retiring for the night, and snap your dentures back in place.

Another benefit of mini-implants is that they are the best choice for patients who lack bone ridge height.

Mini Implants are the ideal choice for people who lead active lifestyles, do not have enough bone to allow for full-sized implants, or cannot withstand the rigors of conventional implant surgery. Plus, they’re about half the price! Once you’ve chosen mini-implants, what happens next? Doctor Van Maren will arrange a surgery appointment and his staff will assist him in ensuring you are medically prepared for surgery.

During the surgery, you will be numbed using local anesthesia and the doctor will proceed to insert your implants. The four or six titanium alloy screws are inserted into the jawbone using a small drill – while you are numb. The entire process takes two hours or less and you should experience very little discomfort or pain the next day, except for minor pressure and some soreness.
